Incorporate as a quick, daily language routine to build grade-level Tier 2 vocabulary and practice basic comprehension in a variety of text forms. Included are three comprehension questions for each passage with sample answers in the notes.
We recommend one passage per day. There are enough passages for the school year.
For UDL, these passages can be read and answered orally. For strong readers and writers, this could be daily bellwork or an independent routine.
Send a digital copy to students and they can complete it on their device using accessibility features as needed (text-to-speech and speech-to-text)
or
print a package for students and have them follow along or complete independently.
This resource was created using evidence-based practices. It develops and strengthens the Language Comprehension part of the Reading Rope. It is not meant to be the entirety of a language program, merely a daily routine. Its primary purpose is to help build grade-level, Tier 2 vocabulary and it’s secondary purpose is to practice all the other strands in the Language Comprehension half of the reading rope.
