Description

Explore the world of forensic anthropology with this archaeological case study - BBC's History Cold Case: The Skeletons of Windypits!

Students will learn about the cross-section of history & forensic science in this fascinating tale from the Iron Age. A great sub-day lesson plan or an assignment for the end of a forensic anthropology unit.

Students will see how forensic analysis can be applied to archaeological remains to reveal possible cause of death. Legendary forensic anthropologist Sue Black teams up with her team members from the Centre for Anatomy & Human Identification (CAHID) at the University of Dundee to investigate human remains. They use forensic science, including radiocarbon dating, DNA and isotope analysis, to find out about the life and death of each set of remains.
