Description

Twenty-two engineering lessons! Each lesson includes student record sheets, photographs of student work, supply list, correlated read aloud, word bank, and teaching tips. All lessons are fully editable by purchaser, and can also easily be used for kindergarten and second grade. In addition to the lessons, I've included a printable graphic of the engineering cycle, a letter to ask parents for materials, a list of clickable links for even more engineering ideas, and a pacing guide. I created this set of lessons because there is nothing like it on Teachers Pay Teachers, and I want other teachers to experience the great joy of engineering with their students!

Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
Tell and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks.
Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.
