Are you ever wondering what you should cover on the first day of school and how to make it all flow together? I remember my first year feeling overwhelmed when I realized I had to cover everything from walking in the classroom to sharpening pencils, to drink procedures, to recess policies...YIKES!
I have tweaked this document every year until, finally, my 8th year teaching, it's ready to share (I'm sure more tweaks will come, but I'll send you an updated copy when/if this happens :) Remember that this is what I do and ideas for you. Of course, your schedule will look a little different than mine, and you may have additional things you'd like to cover on the first day. This is why I've made it EDITABLE for you to use however you choose!
The first day lesson plan flows smoothly from introductions to getting to know you games to rules and procedures. All worksheets are printable for you to make copies for your students.
Included:
*My 1st day detailed lesson plans
(A copy of my first day plans that actually work and cover every policy and procedure I need to go over with students.)
*Getting to Know You worksheet for bell work on first day
*Story to remind students of kindness and values
*Value contract that the students complete and sign
