Description
This is what I teach my grade 10 and junior high school students to teach "inferencing skills" every year, as our first mini unit, the help them work on their analysis skills.
The inferencing unit teaches students how to actively read and use their PAST KNOWLEDGE + context clues to make sense of what they're reading.
It really pushes their reading skills!
This goes through different types of inferencing - visual / context clues / passage
✤what is an inference?
✤a picture of feet (!!!) and what you can tell about the person based on these feet
✤a "great garbage" mystery inferencing practice
✤two examples of inferencing practice from a passage
NOTE - the last example on the second page is intense - be aware of this if you're doing it with an immature/sensitive group because it talks about cults. With older groups this can spark an engaging class discussion, for sure.
Based on customer's feedback, I've added in a second version for free that would be better suited with younger students who may be sensitive to this content!
