Description
This is a really amazingly fun activity that helps them really understand inferencing on a deeper level.
There's a really simple image that ISN'T so simple when they look closely!
✤ It asks students to start by making inferences on the visual clues found in the photo...and asks if they think the woman is telling the truth or lying...DID she kill her husband?
(they come up with the best, most creative arguments - either one works!)
✤Then they are given a quote from the woman, and what the police found - and based off these TEXTUAL clues, they have to write a police report (it's a form of "summary" writing). It reminds them to read actively and closely, and use critical thinking skills.
✤Included is also a really basic template for a news report - sometimes I get them to do this instead of the police report summary.
This activity really is fun...gets them talking and arguing and inferencing!
