Description

This report provides a complete list of topics (skills) I have addressed as of 1/14/17 (updates take place almost daily). These topics appear as subsets of individual standards. The report prints in the same order as that from the Common Core folks themselves.

Why is this of any use? Well, you can see how the 43,577 problems are divvied up--how many level 1 (easy) problems, how many level 4 (hard) problems, how many require constructions, how many reference a diagram, how many there are connected to a given standard, etc. Each problem is attached to a skill where each skill is attached to a standard.

All of these problems (actually records in a large database) along with their solutions can be mixed and matched for particular lessons, entire units, whole courses, quizzes, tests, etc. It has been a labor of love for more than 7 years and used daily at my charter school for several purposes--including being the sole source material for 4 (at the moment) courses. To my knowledge, the entire database of problems and the programs that accompany them are unparalleled--if that is a mistaken claim, please correct me.

[The entire database is also available so that you can construct your own courses and enjoy the benefits of a full database that has automated grading, statistical tracking, etc. Of all the options that you have for teaching math, this is the MOST FLEXIBLE and CHEAPEST!]

Please ask any question regarding this and make any request that seems reasonable.

In the latest updates, problems have been added, principally concerning PRIME NUMBER and UNUSUAL GEOMETRY THEOREMS (for gifted students), GEOMETRIC CONSTRUCTIONS (with compass and straight-edge) and PROOFS, practical problems dealing with garden LOPPERS and GEAR RATIOS, a GENETICS topic, TRIGONOMETRY, Newton's Differences and most recently, 4th grade problems having to do with fractions and 3rd grade multiplication tables problems.

RELATED ITEMS:
After teaching at-risk kids for a decade (and not taking more than 1-day vacations in the summers because of a near-constant dedication to working on and improving a mathematics database that has been used to teach over 6 courses) I have come to realize the depths of the problems facing students in the U.S. Very often, they have needed far more rigor, challenge, drills and exercises that require imagination, sketching and creating. As such, please review some of the offerings here by grade:
For starters, look at the Grade 3 Summary, the Grade 4 Summary, the Grade 5 Summary, the Grade 6 Summary, the Grade 7 Summary, the Grade 8 Summary and the Grades 9-12 Summary.

Beyond these summaries, I have numerous CHALLENGING, MENTAL MATH, CONCEPT, CONSTRUCTION and WORD problem offerings—all deemed useful and necessary over these 10 years. Beyond these will be hundreds of units that will eventually populate this site that have been extensively used by me in the very successful decade of teaching without textbooks or e-books. The database includes over 700 instructional references and 500 diagrams. Every worksheet is in Grade-domain-cluster-standard-skill-difficulty level order—in synch 100% with the Common Core.

Take a look.
