Chance and Probability Activities | Theoretical Probability Playing Cards

Looking for theoretical probability activities involving a standard deck of playing cards? These 32 Print Task Cards and 45 digital Boom Cards will reinforce students’ understanding of chance and theoretical probability of events occurring if playing cards were picked from a standard deck. Students will represent each outcome as a fraction.

Both US and British English spelling and terminology included.

• 32 Print Task Cards featuring a variety of questions
• Recording Sheet x 1
• Answer Key
• Reference Sheet (color snapshot of all task cards on a single sheet): Have students glue in their notebooks for reference.
• 45 Boom Digital Cards (Self-Checking) + Printable Answer Key included

Activity

• Spread task cards around the classroom. I personally like to tape them to walls, so they don’t get lost in all the excitement.

• Provide students with a clipboard and the recording sheet.
  
• Students work, individually, in pairs, or in small groups to record their responses.

Post Activity

Project the Pdf file (answer key) on the smart board/interactive whiteboard for students to check their answers. Provide further explanation accordingly.
