What educators are saying

Due to time constraints, this resource met our class needs. It was concise and the student's appreciated the guided notes. It allowed me to move faster because the notes and PowerPoint matched up!

    Description

Cell Cycle & Mitosis and Meiosis Differentiated Graphic Organizer Guided Notes for students comes in a worksheet style or foldable style for interactive notebooks. Both styles complement distance, hybrid, and traditional learning. The resource can be printed on paper or filled out digitally online. The PowerPoints are aligned with the guided notes. The digital worksheet is great for online platforms such as Google Classroom, Schoology, or others. The digital fillable pdf form can be filled out using Adobe Acrobat, Lumen, Kami, or other free pdf-editing applications.

Cell Cycle and Mitosis PowerPoint and Foldable:

The PowerPoint and guided notes cover cell cycle, G0, G1, S, G2, and mitosis in both animal and plant cells. There are note-taking areas for how mitosis is the driving force behind growth, development, regeneration, and asexual reproduction. The notes also cover tumors both benign and malignant (cancer).

    Meiosis PowerPoint and Foldable:

The PowerPoint and guided notes prompt the students to define vocabulary specific to meiosis. Next, the students learn about crossing-over using terms such as sister chromatids, homologous chromosomes, synapsis, tetrad, chiasmata. The detailed meiotic steps also discuss what is happening with the quantity of genetic material and each phase of meiosis.

There are two versions of both sets of student fold-out foldables and student worksheets, one blank and one with fill-in-the-blank for students who need to be modified for IEP, 504, or handwriting challenges. Both foldables and worksheets can be printed on paper and or filled out online with fillable pdf files.

    NGSSHS-LS1-4
Use a model to illustrate the role of cellular division (mitosis) and differentiation in producing and maintaining complex organisms. Assessment does not include specific gene control mechanisms or rote memorization of the steps of mitosis.
    NGSSHS-LS3-2
Make and defend a claim based on evidence that inheritable genetic variations may result from (1) new genetic combinations through meiosis, (2) viable errors occurring during replication, and/or (3) mutations caused by environmental factors. Emphasis is on using data to support arguments for the way variation occurs. Assessment does not include the phases of meiosis or the biochemical mechanism of specific steps in the process.
