What educators are saying

The students are so happy with this activity when I use it in a literacy rotation. They enjoy finding "all" of the words, and like the challenge to create bigger words.
My students loved this resource and it made my life so much easier. Very nice and I would buy from again. Thank you!

Description

Do you need activities to help your kindergarten and grade 1 students read and blend CVC words? Are you teaching word families? Boggle your students' minds with these 30 fun and engaging CVC word family cards based on the game 'Boggle'. Each card focuses on a specific word family. Students create new words using the letters on the board. Ten boxes have been allowed for each word family. However, the number of words that can be found will vary. They will not always find ten words. They are perfect for literacy centers and initiating discussion amongst students about real words and 'non-sense' words.

The following word families are included and are color coded:

-ab -eb -ib -ob -ub

-ad -ed -id -og -ud

-ag -eg -ig -op -ug

-am -em -in -ot -um

-an -en -ip -un

-ap -et -it -up

-at -ut

Students look at the shaded letters and create new words using these letters. Letters DO NOT need to be touching to create words.

As the activity is intended for lower grades, I do not recommend using timers or having students play against each other. The goal is to develop confidence in word building.
