Description

It is likely that our students will be required to use MLA and APA citation formatting during their post-secondary education. It is therefore crucial that we teach them the basic differences between the two. This activity presents, and compares and contrasts, the rules of in-text citations for APA (7th edition) and MLA (8th edition). Rules for paraphrasing as well as for direct quotes are discussed. It also demonstrates example paragraphs (incorrect, not reader friendly, excellent) and provides students with paragraphs to investigate for practice. An answer sheet with possible explanations is given.
