What educators are saying

Having the visuals really helped my students see what was going on. By Act III they were arguing amongst themselves about how the next one would be set up! Highly recommend adding this to your unit!
These reference sheets and activities fit nicely into what I already use in my classroom. I loved what they added to my routines.

Description

A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Comics and Activities is the perfect way to get students into Shakespeare’s hilarious comedy. Each act is introduced with a comic that gives a summary of what happens (without giving too much away) as well as a warm up activity that will get students interacting with Shakespeare’s language. Each comic includes actual text from the play. The comics and activities are perfect for those who are reading Shakespeare for the first time, reluctant readers, visual learners, and just about anyone else who likes a dose of fun with their learning. The activities are:

Act I: a lesson on allusions using the image of Cupid

Act II: a lesson on the characterization and providing textual evidence using the description of Robin Goodfellow

Act III: a lesson using a primary source retelling of the myth of Pyramus and Thisbe

Act IV and V: a chart that helps students understand the changing relationships in the play

Also, I have included a comic introduction to Shakespeare that provides students with his life and times as well as an introduction to his language.

These comics are designed to supplement current lessons plans for "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" and not as stand alone lessons. The full text of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" is not included.
