Description
This curriculum map is everything that you will need to organize and set up your Pre-K academic year!
We have designed a two year preschool program that helps students enter kindergarten confidently and ready to take off with learning. After teaching kindergarten in the public schools, it became very important to us that students entered kindergarten with the skills that would allow the year to not be too easy or too hard. The students that came into kindergarten this way had fun and LOVED school and were wildly successful because of it. So we created our curriculum map to do this when we opened our own preschool. We use this curriculum map in our school with our students and have seen the success first hand.
This is the SECOND YEAR, typically for 4 and 5 year olds, but can be used with any early childhood learner. This is a 35 week curriculum map that outlines what concepts to teach in phonics, reading, math, science, and writing. It also provides themes for each week as well. This does not include full lesson plans for each week. It is a map of concepts and when you should be teaching them, and in what combination of other topics. It is easy to follow and allows the parent or teacher freedom to create their own activities based on the topics they should be teaching.
This includes:
- 35 weekly themes and concepts to be taught during the year, laid out in 9 month long maps
- Our example of how much time we spend on each activity in class
- The first TWO weeks of our January Lesson Plans, along with the master materials needed to print off to complete the activities during those weeks
- Blank lesson plan template if you want to design your own lessons with the curriculum map
- Preschool report card that monitors their progress from concepts in the curriculum map
- Materials needed to do assessments for the progress report
- 4 different versions of a graduation diploma to be used at the end of the year
- Ideas for 9 different monthly dramatic play centers that coincide with themes from the scope and sequence
- 2 different covers and inside template pages to print off Preschool Journals for the students
This can be used in a public preschool class, an in-home preschool with many students, or a home school situation where parents want to teach their children. Any early childhood-aged learner would benefit from following it.
We provide the two weeks of lesson plans for January just as an example to show how you can use the curriculum map to come up with appropriate activities. This product would be for someone that wants to come up with their own lesson plans. Again, it does NOT include the full year of lesson plans.
