Young children deal with many different emotions on a daily basis. Children feel angry, sad, frustrated, nervous, happy, and embarrassed, however, they may not have the words to talk about how they are feeling. Instead, they sometimes act out these emotions in physical and inappropriate ways. There are five interrelated sets of cognitive, affective and behavioral competencies which include: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making.
