Princess Mononoke is one of my favorite films to show students. It teaches a wide range of relevant and student-centered lessons from Japanese culture and history to wider universal concepts such as conflict, coming-of-age, good and evil, and characterization. Social Studies issues include environmental preservation, environmental ethics, ancient religion and beliefs, societal gender roles and more! There are so many relevant lessons in this amazing animated film, your kids will be spellbound!
