TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My first experience teaching was right after my Bat Mitzvah. I felt the only way to really continue my connection with Judaism was through becoming a teacher's assistant at the local Sunday school and to attend Jewish sleep away camp. I slowly picked up babysitting jobs and after one year as a camp counselor, I became a senior counselor. I took a short break from working with kids when I started college, but soon found myself falling in love with a job I had never once considered...teaching preschool! After a few more years of teaching at the religious school and assisting at the preschool I moved to a new city and started an entirely new adventure, elementary school. Over the years I have worked with kids of all ages, but have really specialized in early childhood.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Above all else, I find making a connection with every student is not just a nice thing to do, but is crucial for their education and success. It is also much more difficult to manage a classroom of children who don't feel any connection to you or their peers. I love to make education fun. I find flex seating and sensory toys to be an essential part of the learning environment, especially for early elementary school children. Moving around, bringing in new activities and surprises keeps both me and my students on their toes. Currently I work as a first grade assistant at a boys school. I spend a lot of my time creating fun projects, coloring sheets, decorating the bulletin boards and making sure my students are safe, learning, and having the best experience possible.
