I was a teacher for 20 years then worked as a PD facilitator supporting teachers in Primary and Intermediate schools for 21 years. My PD delivery was English (Literacy), Science, Gifted Education, Technology Education and the New Zealand Curriculum. The resources I have developed and the thinking skills models I have created have been used in NZ schools as well as several other countries. I have run many workshops and presented at National and International conferences. I am the New Zealand Director of Future Problem Solving.
Questioning in the classroom is everything! My teaching style has always been student centred and cross-curricular. I believe in student choice and student agency. I emphasise the teaching of complex thinking - creative, critical and caring thinking. I taught my students strategies that they could apply in their further learning and real life. My areas of expertise are questioning, complex thinking skills, problem-solving, authentic learning, creativity, inquiry and gifted education. Above all, my classroom was fun and my kids enjoyed the opportunities I gave them.
