TEACHING EXPERIENCE

HI all! I am a high school social studies teachers, plus AP! Currently, I'm working for the state, writing curriculum for Economics and US History. My husband and I are also working on a educational film project! Prior to teaching, I spent seven years working with I Elementary and Middle School students for both school and summer education, and collaboration with local education programs funded and promoted by the City of Albuquerque . I love PD! I've been to and continue to enjoy the AP Program, Bill of Rights Institutes, Facing History and Ourselves, and the National Council for the Social Studies! Curriculum Writer for Economics & US History

MY TEACHING STYLE

My style of teaching is certainly unique. I find that I work best, as an educator, and represent my content to the fullest when I have students engage in PBLs, simulations and discussions. I prefer to combine hands on, experiential - or as close to as possible - learning with discussion and reflection. As a high school teacher, I have seen my students grow the most when they are able to try something and then talk through it. I also use many primary and secondary sources to engage my students, particularly so they can read the evidence and form their own opinion, which can be discussed. Some of my preferred teaching strategies include: Simulations, Socratic Seminars, Activities, Film Analysis, Tea Parties and Learning Centers/ Stations
