I currently teach a diagnostic preschool for children with a variety of disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, speech-language impairment, and intellectual disabilities. Prior to preschool, I taught 1st-3rd grades for students with Autism. I am in my 5th year of teaching. Before working as a classroom teacher, I worked as an elementary level speech therapist.
I believe in providing a structured environment for my students by offering positive behavior supports and lots of visual cues. Most of my students are visual learners who work more productively with manipulative based activities. Therefore I am constantly thinking of ways to make learning visual, hands-on, and fun.

I love what I do. By chance I became a classroom teacher. I started as a speech therapist and decided to teach a class one summer. The rest is history. I've seen some amazing things happen in the classroom and I hope I see even more amazing things in the future. I take pride in building community and friendships with my students through building their language and self-esteem. I can't wait to see where this crazy journey takes me.
