TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a second grade teacher with 26 years of experience. My experience includes teaching Kindergarten through Fourth grade and Reading Recovery, Literacy Coach for K-2 classroom teachers and a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader for Reading Recovery teachers. For 5 years I was the district wide Literacy Specialist for the county that I work in and I delivered professional development, offered literacy resources and classroom support for K-5 teachers. During the 2016-17 school year, I decided to go back into the classroom because I was missing teaching students. I taught 2nd grade and fell back in love with teaching!!! During the 2017-18 school year, I transferred schools and taught 3rd grade and this year (18-19) I teach 2nd grade again :) ... stay tuned and join me on this journey as I develop some new resources to use with my students!!

MY TEACHING STYLE

“It is not enough to simply teach children to read; we have to give them something worth reading. Something that will stretch their imaginations--something that will help them make sense of their own lives and encourage them to reach out toward people whose lives are quite different from their own.” ~ Katherine Patterson
