Math by Candace and April

Together we have taught high school children for 15 years. We have taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Tech Math, Foundations of Math, Math I, and Math II. Of all of the subjects we have taught, we both truly love the Math I curriculum and have collaborated with one another to create something we believe is amazing. The level of student involvement and understanding has skyrocketed and I am excited about the future as we continue to perfect our teaching method.

Just like the name of our store, MATH by Candace and April, we teach through collaboration. We collaborate to develop material and we instill that same mindset into our students, collaboration. We put the students in the driver's seat and let them drive the class forward through tasks, inquiry, and student-centered discussions. We strive to differentiate each topic and approach so that all levels of learners are reached and pulled forward to show growth and reach their full potential.

My name is Candace Floyd. I attended Appalachian State University through the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program. I graduated from ASU in 2011 with a degree in Mathematics: Secondary Education. Since graduating from college I have been learning every day from my students, co-workers, and through personal experience...and it has been AMAZING. My name is April Daywalt.

Hello! Our names are April Daywalt and Candace Floyd and we are the creators of MATH by Candace and April, the one stop for all of your algebraic needs. We are colleagues that have collaborated and created a complete Common Core Math I curriculum. In our store you can (soon) find lesson plans, guided notes, tasks, cumulative test, quizzes, study guides, projects, answer keys, and so much more. Our lesson plans, guided notes, and tasks are used to encourage and enhance classroom discussions and group work with activities and assignments that offer differentiation as well as independent practice.
