I taught middle school language arts and social studies (grades 6-8) for 10 years. In that time, I worked with a wide variety of students. I have also taught elementary level summer programs, substituted at all K-8 levels, ran a preschool, and have been closely involved in the school lives of my three daughters who are currently in 10th grade, a Freshman in college (pursuing Engineering/STEM), and a Sophomore in college (pursuing Architecture). I've been working on a website I'd love you to check out (and find yourself freebies, ideas, test prep): www.lovinglanguagearts.com. Since teaching and while being a "stay-at-home-mom" and "teacherpreneur," I have taken on numerous awesome projects with multiple EdTech learning companies as an Independent Contractor. It has taught me a TON about writing test questions, passages, activities, and more. I am a Content Creator -- I create the content for standardized test questions, online learning activities, video scripts for short educational multimedia videos, my own ELA and literacy in content areas curriculum for sale, entire online ELA courses and blended learning program curriculum, etc. My daughters and their friends get the privilege of trying out (over and over) my lessons so that I can make them awesome and tailored to that age group. I get the privilege of hearing the truth...lol
School should be a place where you learn interesting things and practice valuable skills. (It should also be a place of respect and kindness.) Students want to be engaged, active, and they want interesting, creative curriculum -- not those boring textbooks! That's why I'm here - an ALTERNATIVE TO LONG BORING TEXTBOOKS KIDS COMPLAIN TO YOU ABOUT. Make your life easier by giving them resources they like, you like, everyone likes!

B.A., English, 1995, University of California, Irvine Masters courses in Curriculum and Instruction, 1996-1998, Chapman University Full year of pre-med Anatomy and Physiology and Nutrition science courses. I love science and enjoy using it in the language arts setting. I also enjoy math (weird...I know).
I am currently an independent contractor for various ELA content/curriculum companies doing various projects. I am currently creating standardized test questions that align with the Common Core ELA state standards (a.k.a. "Career and College Ready" standards) and more standards depending on the state. Therefore, I have been gaining a GREAT amount of knowledge about aligning content to standards and assessing it. It is all harder than I thought it would be (more complicated), but it is worth it to learn so much about making quality, targeted curriculum that is actually useful.
