I started my career in education at the tender age of 6 as a teaching assistant. Well, it was more of an unpaid internship, and the mentor teacher was my mother, but still, I was kind of a prodigy. I could sharpen the hell out of pencil, and I was the chalkboard erasers cleaning mastah. And don't get me started on bulletin boards. Bulletin boards were my JAM. My first paid (and I use the term 'paid' loosely) job was in a Pre-K classroom, after which I moved around to different grade levels until I became a Descubriendo la Lectura teacher, which is the Spanish version of Reading Recovery. When my district did away with the program, I moved into the role of Reading Specialist and Literacy Coach, which I'm still doing today. Currently, I'm working in an elementary school in Houston, Texas, where I work to provide support for the general ed, bilingual, and dual language teachers on my campus. And while I absolutely love working with my teachers, nothing beats the feeling you get when you see that lightbulb go off in a kiddo's brain, so I love my small groups the mostest.
I get bored VERY easily, so I have to make lessons that are fun for me, as well as for the kids!

I have an unnatural obsession with Topo Chico, Gummie Bears, and Dateline, two kids that I couldn't be prouder of, and a man who I wouldn't want to live without.
