TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 8th grade language arts and English for the past 6 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like students to be actively engaged in the classroom; "sit 'n git" doesn't work with 8th graders! I get the students up and out of their seats, they move around, talk, manipulate, make discoveries...I encourage students to make connections to other learning, and I believe that students should understand "why" we do things as much as "how" we do things.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nominated for Outstanding Teacher of the Year 2013 (home district) Outstanding Middle Level Education Student 2006

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

University of Nebraska at Kearney, BA in Middle Level Education, additional endorsements in language arts and math

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My husband and I have been married for over twenty-five years and we have four wonderful children and one grandchild.
