TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught history for twelve years, in the UK and in Illinois. I have taught all grades from 6th to 12th. I moved on from teaching and went back to my original career choice and run a public library in Illinois.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Although I spent some time lecturing, or using online and video content, most of my teaching was focused on students doing. I think that when students are working, they are learning much more than in other scenarios.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I grew up in Britain and attended elementary and secondary school there. I graduated with a Bachelor of Library Science from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1992, completed some graduate work at the University of London in 1993. I qualified as a teacher in 2003, and after moving to the US, recertified in Illinois in 2006. I gained my Master's of Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction in 2010 from National Louis University.
