ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have been working at the intersection of social work and special education for more than 20 years, having founded Matan in the year 2000. I specialize in working with children and teenagers with Selective Mutism, a passion that emerged over a decade ago when my own children were diagnosed with SM as preschoolers. I utilize a strengths-based approach with children and parents to meet each individual where they are on their journey. I am co-author of the award-winning I Have a Question children’s book series, including I Have a Question about Death, I Have a Question about Divorce, I Have a Question about Cancer, and I Have a Question about Coronavirus (Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively). I love to write short picture stories to help children manage daily challenges and emotions!
