I have only been teaching three years, but I have had a lot of experience in that short amount of time. I started teaching in January 2010 (because I was a December graduate). My first teaching job was as an Art teacher; I taught grades K-5. I learned alot about my classroom management style teaching multiple grade levels. I didn't stay there long though, because I was hired in January it was considered a temporary position and I had to reapply. From there I became a 5th grade teacher. I absolutely loved it! Near the end of that school year I found out the school was closing because of the previous school years performance scores. Again, I had to "reapply". From there I taught 2nd grade and now 1st.
I love when students learn through discovering and hand on experience. I usually don't do a long whole group, just enough to introduce the lesson. From there my students break off into cooperative groups as I walk around the class to give corrective feedback.
