I have taught in a Montessori classroom for four years. I have recently become a certified elementary Montessori teacher though the American Montessori Society. I have with every age from 3 to 14, but the bulk of my experience is with 6-9 year olds (1st through 3rd grade)
I teach with the philosophy that most children learn by doing. I believe that hands-on activity is the most important facet of a child's education. When children are free to learn in this way, they strengthen their neural connections and gain confidence. When I present, I almost always incorporate storytelling into my lessons. You can make anything into a story, and children naturally respond to stories.

I was homeschooled, and I dictated my own learning for the most part. This gave me a keen sense of how my own brain works, and through exploration of my own learning process I have learned quite a bit about how children learn.
