First students sort the word parts into 3 piles- prefix, root word, and suffix. Next, they are given a definition and need to use the word part cards to build the word. In parentheses on each definition card is the number of word part cards the students will need to make the word. Once the word is built, they are directed to use it in a sentence in their journal.
