The beginning of any story is important. Thus, how we begin the school year--especially in a new school/district--matters a great deal. Unit One aims to accomplish myriad goals, starting with an introduction of myself to students, an overview of the course, and a step-by-step review of classroom procedures. Unit One also is designed to allow for multiple diagnostics of student skill levels, which will help in the formation of year-long goals in both writing and reading. Additionally, these first
