This explains what the Lexile is for, the grade level and the Fountas and Pinnelli's letter signifies. This can be an explanation to staff, parents, and students-I added an assignment for 5th grade for the Reading Counts Quizzes. The Common Core has published a list of exemplar texts for each grade band K-12. However, the appendix can be less than teacher-friendly as it does not provide teachers with the needed information to plan such as the reading level of the text, if there is an audio version available, etc.. It also does not provided adapted resource recommendations for the special education classroom. I have created a handy guide for these texts. It provides links to both paid and free products from around the web

Reading Page Logs

I teach 6th-12th grade reading interventions, and my students are so over reading logs for minutes or for the number of books they've read. Often, these students are still struggling with basic reading skills, or they have never been allowed to try books and have their efforts COUNT for something. Instead, we have chosen to count pages read as their class achievement this year. My students elected to use a bookmark to track their progress. These bookmarks are best printed on cardstock paper
