This is the first reading in a paired reading experience in which students will be asked to compare two characters' development as a response to prejudice. In this soliloquy, Thami Mbikwana relays how his feelings about school and the future have changed as a result of his growing awareness of his place in South Africa as a black boy during Apartheid.
