The CCSS requires the teaching of ELA standards in all subjects. As good teachers we've long looked for ways to combine multiple objectives / disciplines into one lesson / assessment. After spending two months on the scientific method with my ESL eighth graders I wanted to give them an assessment that would assess their understanding of the scientific method, discrimination between types of variables, and also cover some of the ELA objectives that we needed to accomplish.
