Hands-on Activity for Recognizing Patterns & Creating Equations
This Smart Board presentation walks the teacher and students through an excellent hands-on activity, using goldfish crackers and post-it notes, to work on discovering patterns. It also allows the teacher to show there are multiple ways to solve a problem as some kids will draw pictures, some will make charts, and some will find a math problems. AT the end of the lesson the class works together to create an algebraic equation from the pattern they learned. This is a fabulous intro to equations

I created 'Thinking Time' last year and now all the classes in my school are using it. There are over 100 slides. This is a brilliant tool to have in the class room. It can be used as an exciting early morning work, a time filler on any given day or as a way of really getting the kids into a thinking state of mind. Feelings Scenarios Whack a Mole! Throw a ball at your smartboard!
How cool!? Throwing a koosh ball at the smartboard! My kids LOVE it! When the different scenarios came up I had kids share ideas (or made a game of it, having them write down answers as a group) about each situation. They stated the way it would make them feel and different options about how to handle it. Because this lesson is centered around emotions, there may be many different ideas, feelings, and answers. Great for the first week of school!

Concentration Smartboard Game
This game can be played two ways:
Option 1:
Using a Smartboard interactive whiteboard divide your classes into two or more groups.
Each player will take a turn uncovering two suares. If they receive a correct match they may play for the bonus point. Team with the most points at the end wins.
Option two:
Students may play individually by uncovering all squares and then using the marker or shape tools from the smartboard tool bar and use them to identify their answers. Teacher then checks match
