Does your school use Write from the Beginning? Use these templates to get your students started! Each week I introduce a new writing prompt and use these graphic organizers to help students brainstorm and organize their ideas. To use the circle map, students write their topic in the middle. After teaching students different ways to alter test in Microsoft Word, this handout is used for assessment for students to show what they know about altering text. It is a word document so you can edit it to your liking. I have used it in grades K-8. It has a but in rubric.

How's My Writing? Students will be able to use this rubric to check their own writing or their partners'. I laminated and added a copy to my 2nd and 3rd grade students' writing folders. You can also use it in Writing Workshop or Writing stations. I have seen grade improvement in my students' writing and I hope it helps you, too.
