This is a fun Halloween activity that is also an introduction to different rhyming patterns of poetry. Students can underline the words that rhyme, or verbs, adjectives, etc. There are different possibilities. At the end, students have the opportunity to write their own RIP poems on a tombstone. This Smartboard lesson provides a very basic introduction to types of propaganda. Students interact with definitions of bandwagon, testimonial, transfer, repetition, emotional words, name-calling, faulty cause and effect, and compare and contrast as propaganda techniques. There are examples of each, with students determining what technique was used. I do this whole group at the beginning of the unit, but it could easily be adapted to fit a center.

This attendance sheet for the Smartboard uses sandals and a bucket. As students enter the classroom they drag their sandals into the bucket so we can easily see who is absent.
