Anne Frank Argumentative Research Paper
Students are asked to choose a position on Anne Frank's famous quote "In spite of everything, I still believe people are good at heart". Students debate this quote based on their World War II knowledge and knowledge of the Anne Frank play (which we read in class). Then they research both digital and printed sources from/about World War II and use evidence from those sources to prove their case. Next they turn their research into a 5 paragraph essay.

Fall Poetry/Figurative Writing Cooperative Learning Project
This two-part lesson helps accomplish multiple tasks. It helps build quality vocabulary in creative writing, helps establish what figurative language is, helps organize cooperative learning roles and it paves the way for similar projects in the future.
