The purpose of this project is to give your students a deeper understanding of the use of trigonometry in analyzing the circle. It will also provide your students with a better understanding of the use of special triangles to calculate the coordinates of certain points on the circle. It will also provide them with a fun, interesting and colorful way to display the various circle parameters (degrees, radians and exact coordinates) on a circular-shaped project. The project requires the student

When we began solving problems to calculate the values of trigonometric functions, my students struggled time and again with how to know if a value should be positive or negative. This simple activity asks students to determine where on the unit circle each of the six trigonometric functions are positive and negative. Give students one class period to sort out positive and negative for every function; then they can glue down the cards for a reference sheet to use on their homework the rest of th

This word document includes 30-60-90 and 45-45-45 triangles that fit a circle where students can cut out and label all tringles to derive the unit circle. In my lesson we label both sides off all triangles after they are cut out. Then students will start will all of the 60 degree and make a full rotation labeling the coordinates based on the length and height of the triangles, etc.

This MS Word file is a Math 3 Assessment / Practice Test for:Unit 10 - Trigonometric Functions It consists of nine (9) multi-part questions involving the sine and cosine trigonometric functions. I used to use this document as my assessment for Unit 10 for my Math 3 classes. Since I now use an online program for all of my math assessments, I use this document as a practice test the day before I give any related online assessment. It is eighteen (18) pages in length, including the Teacher Answ

This practice is for students beginning to use the Unit Circle to find exact values of sine, cosine, and tangent. Students will work in pairs. Each student has a problem set to work. Answers for each line should be the same for both students. This allows students to self-check and discuss mistakes and procedures. I use this activity in NC Math III.

I used these when I was tutoring a student during the Summer. I made these based on the Teacher's Addition of "Algebra 2" by Holt McDougal. This file includes worksheets for all six sections of Chapter 13 on Trigonometry, tables/charts/images from the textbook, examples from the Teachers Addition, and definitions. These worksheets are good for differentiating in your classroom. Many of the definitions, theorems, and equations are already on the pages and it walks students through how to solv

Unit Circle and Trig Function Exploration

On the first side of this worksheet, I introduce the pattern of the Unit Circle in Quadrant I. Students then use this pattern to figure out the remaining values in the Unit Circle. Then, students graph these values on the reverse side in order to see the wave pattern that sine and cosine functions make.

Trigonometric Inverses, Equations, and Identities Test

This is a test for trigonometry or pre-calculus curricula. It covers finding trigonometric inverses when already presented in the problem as well as using trigonometric inverses and identities to solve trig equations. Designed for average to honors level students. I use with home schooled students together with Blitzer Pre-Calc text book.
