A set of basic vertical problems are provided with the addition of zero, subtraction of zero, and multiplication of zero. Each set of problems is followed by a prompt leading the student to determine the rule based on the pattern they see in the problems and answers calculated in that particular set. Portions can be used at one time, or it can be used all at once depending on the grade level and the actual lesson.
