Movie Short Essay: A Time to Kill

This movie, along with Saving Private Ryan, is probably the most impactful movie that I have ever shown to my classes. This handout includes two different stances that students can take after viewing the movie "A Time to Kill." Along with their argument, they must also answer specific questions that relate to race in America and the modern criminal justice system. Lastly, there is a parent permission slip, considering the movie is rated "R." This product is licensed for use in one classr

This awesome (8:45 min) video from Keith Hughes explains how the Emancipation Proclamation did not actually free all slaves. These are questions that go along with the video that enable students to have notes to take away from it. Great addition to Civil War unit! Since the videos are on YouTube, you could have students watch them for homework in preparation for class or have them watch together in class. I have provided a direct link to the video as well as a teacher key for all the questions.
