Vocabulary of Culture Shock used to play bingo. Students mark off the words they hear. When students mark off four words in a row, they shout "bingo" and win the game. This handout is a sheet I use with each spelling unit. I use it with the developmental spelling programs called Word Journeys and Words Their Way. Developmental spelling is a great way to meet the students where they are and move them forward as opposed to teaching the same words to all students regardless of their current level. In addition, it can be used with students of all grade levels. This type of spelling is also very effective with Special Ed and ESL students.
