I used this along side my powerpoint lesson, and guided notes on how to evaluate an author's reasoning and evidence to determine overall soundness of the argument. This is aligned with common core standard R.I. 8.8. After I taught my students how to use this rubric to evaluate arguments, then I assessed them using a different text with the same rubric.
