SANIBONANI Unison w/Optional Percussion & Hand Claps "Good afternoon!" "Good Day!" That how you are greeted by members of the African Zulu tribe. Syncopated accompaniment supports the musical greetings in the text. Great song for an ice breaker. Add maracas, shekere, or other shakers for an authentic sound. Hand claps add to the rhythmic interest, but any instrument may be substituted for hand claps such as rhythm sticks, tambourine, wood block, etc. Action cues are included.

"Weeping" is a song made famous by Josh Groban but was originally written by Dan Heymann, a white South African man. It is a protest song against apartheid. This lesson includes a copy of the lyrics, a link to the video on YouTube, a graphic organizer for students to follow as they listen to the song and perform a close reading on the song, a follow up homework assignment and detailed directions for the teacher. This song should be treated like a primary source document in the classroom.
