The goal of this hands-on math project is for students to understand volume. They will put all of the given cubes and rectangular prisms inside one big rectangular prism, fitting in perfectly without any gaps, calculate and compare their volumes, realizing that the sum of the volumes of the small inner figures equal the volume of the big outside figure, and view the right rectangular prism as decomposed into layers of arrays of cubes and other rectangular prisms. STEM PBL: Area, Perimeter, Volume Gingerbread House Christmas Lesson

This is a Google Slides assignment that supplements making gingerbread houses. These houses can be made of cardboard, gingerbread, or graham crackers. The slides are set up for groups but can be changed to a individual or a whole class assignment. The slides prompt students to measure the graham cracker and determine the area, perimeter, and volume of their house with correct units. It includes a slide at the end where they can attach a photo of their house.
