Gear Relief Project an Intro to 3D Artwork Using Recycled Cardboard
This lesson acts as an introduction to creating 3D artwork and to the concept of relief style artwork. It is meant to be taught to 8th graders and no younger because it does require the use of xacto knives. Each student is given a cardboard slab and they are tasked with carving into the cardboard to reveal the different layers beneath, creating a relief. The project can be modified for older or more advanced students by adding (gluing) more layers of cardboard together and requiring the students
