"When am I ever going to use this?!" is a common question in high school mathematics courses. Now you can be prepared with the answer when teaching about sine and cosine functions. Students will read a short article about glycemic index and compare the sinusoidal waves of high and low glycemic foods' effect on blood sugar. Students will then answer 10 questions that will help them make the connections to periodic function vocabulary. Includes: Student handout (link to article, chart, and 10

Digital Bearings Basics (Trigonometry)

GCSE/IGCSE ‘Digital Bearings Basics’ is presented dynamically, so students witness the thought processes and the build up of diagrams first-hand. Contains practice for prerequisites and assumes no prior knowledge of bearings. Easy to navigate and miss out sections you do not need. Doubles as a robust review resource students can replay alone. Contents: Points of the compass, angles to bearing, concept of travelling on a bearing, difference between bearing of B from A and of A from B, bearings be

Circles Desmos Exploration and Activity for REMOTE LEARNING

Students will explore the standard equation of a circle by using a Desmos applet to explore the center and radius. Embedded within this presentation you will find a link to a YouTube video that explains how to complete the square for equations of circles to convert the equation into standard form and determine the center and radius. Students will then engage in an ordering activity before practicing independently, and checking their solution on the Desmos applet. The perfect lesson for a flipped

Digital Pythagoras Theorem Questions

GCSE/IGCSE For students who already know Pythagoras Theorem theory and now need practice answering ‘geometric application’ questions. Solutions are given in detail, line by line. Presentation style is flexible: operate it as a lecture or alternatively as a tutorial with heavy emphasis on student engagement. Slides/sections are named. This makes it easier to use it non-linearly. Contains a printable worksheet in case you want to set the questions as homework. Designed so as it double as a robust

This document provides a link to a trig graph generator I built in Desmos. The preview document provides a demo link with limited functionality. I have personally found that the resources/practice available to students/teachers for determining a trig function from a graph to be fairly limited so I built this. In a nutshell - toggle on/off whatever graph you'd like to generate and hit the "randomize" button to generate new graphs. Then you can quickly export the graph desired graph through desmos

Want to make sure your student truly understands how to work with equations or is prepared for tests like the ACT and SAT?This resource is perfect for students in grades 10 - 12 who are working on understanding how to apply the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for sides of a right triangle. Students will find this activity useful for practicing how to find all sides, starting with either the legs or hypotenuse and a leg to find the remaining side. Use this resource to solidify your students' underst

This is a short Internet lesson where students view one video, and take notes, to learn how to graph a sine function with and without transformations. I use this to introduce the students to the graph prior to my actual lesson. NOTE: Math Type 5.0 was used to create this worksheet. Make certain that your computer can read Math Type. If you purchase this and cannot read the math, let me know and I will send you a pdf version.

Use the Math Dynamics Function Pallet to interactively explore the Maclaurin Expansion Series to calculate the sin for any angle. The only other way to find the sin of an angle is to physically measure it or look it up in a table of previous calculated values, like a Slide Ruler.Includes a Slide Show to explain the technique to do just this.

A Treatise on Trigonometry

Trigonometry is based on the fundamental principle of ONE length. The length in this context is immaterial because with Trigonometry we only need be concerned about ONE. For example if you draw a circle it is ONE circle no matter how big or small. Because it is a circle it has only ONE center with a constant distance to the edge of the circle. This constant distance is ONE and is called the Radius.
