Beowulf (A Modern Retelling) - Small Group Reader's Theater

This is a short retelling of the story of Beowulf's fight with Grendel using modern day language and actions. It is intended to help student's remember key parts of the story while having fun. The script can be used after students have read the story or before. There are 4 parts. The script is only 10 pages long and should take about 10 minutes to read. The writing prompt afterwards asks students to decide whether it is boasting to tell people about things you really have done and why or why not

It also helps to ask others to pray for you. These are the things discussed in this reader's theater. It would make a great skit performed before a sermon or before a discussion in class. I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need.
