TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a high school math teacher with 33.5+ years experience primarily with algebra one and calculus (but with all courses). I have also taught at the middle school and college level. I have been paying attention to the misconceptions students have for the past 33.5+ years. I know what kinds of mistakes kids make and I weave these into the circuits I write to help them notice their misconceptions. I do not include answer keys with the circuits because the answers are part of the circuit. The teacher needs to work the circuit first as prep, and then let the circuit and the students take care of the rest.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My circuits represent but a fraction of my day-to-day teaching resources, but they are the ones I have developed and so I am proud of them! They appear boring (just boxes), but I promise you, they will keep your students engaged! They are not just practice, but the unpacking of a skill or concept. If you are trying to move away from direct instruction into being more of a facilitator, try a few circuits! Try writing your own! I do not include the answer keys because the answers are part of the circuit. These circuits are in some ways NO PREP, but the teacher must work through the circuit first to understand the unpacking of the idea. When all else fails, whip out your light saber.
