TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi! My name is Jenn Larson and I have been an elementary teacher for over 20 years and have taught all grades at least once (K - 5), but upper elementary grades are my favorites! Teaching is in my blood as my mother and father were both teachers and one of my brothers works as a professor of history. Besides teaching, I am a published author! My first book is called "Perfectly Logical! Challenging Fun Logic Puzzles and Brain Teasers for Smart Kids. My second book is called What it Means to Be a Teacher! My newest book is a picture book called Songbird!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Teaching to the whole child is important to me and while I want my students to do well on standardized tests, and work towards that end, I have never felt that tests were the most important thing that I teach. I believe in motivating kids to become life long learners, while modeling the character traits that they need to grow into happy, well-adjusted adults. I love to add humor to the learning day and try to make even the most dull subject come to life. I truly care about the kids I teach and want them to have the best year possible.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have served as a mentor teacher, training student teachers. I was selected to be a school representative for the Curriculum Council and am currently on the District Common Core Committee. I was awarded the Woman of the Year for 2013 - 2014 by the National Association of Professional Women.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in Psychology and a Master's in Curriculum/Instruction.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have two kids, a son who is married and works in southern California and a daughter who is also married and works in northern California.I also have two rescue cats!
