TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching Elementary students Physical Education since 2007. I love keeping kids active, engaging their minds, hearts and bodies and taking advantage of the multitude of teachable moments that we all encounter throughout each day.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My curriculum is based on standards, having fun, maximum activity and stressing good sportsmanship throughout everything we do...... My teaching style is up beat, we use A LOT of music and keep the kids moving as much as possible. I try to fit in as much as possible into each lesson to make it valuable for my students........ I believe in healthy competition, I don't think kids can learn to play sports successfully if we don't teach them the right way to win and lose. My most used phrase in the gym "After all... It's just a GAME!"....... My ultimate goal - to create physically literate individuals who never need to hire a personal trainer or nutritionist because they have the knowledge and skills to take responsibility for their health.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Outstanding PE Teaching Major Award (University of SC)........... National Board Certification in Physical Education............ Donors Choose Grant Recipient............. Fit Families of America Grant Recipient........... River Springs Elementary TOY 2016-2017

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA in Physical Education K-12 - University of SC Masters in Education - Southern Wesleyan University Masters in Educational Leadership - University of SC National Board Certified in Physical Education

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
